Self‐Propelled Magnetic Dendrite‐Shaped Microrobots for Photodynamic Prostate Cancer Therapy

چکیده

Photocatalytic micromotors that exhibit wireless and controllable motion by light have been extensively explored for cancer treatment photodynamic therapy (PDT). However, overexpressed glutathione (GSH) in the tumor microenvironment can down-regulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) level therapy. Herein, we present dendrite-shaped light-powered hematite microrobots as an effective GSH depletion agent PDT of prostate cells. These display negative phototactic under irradiation flexible actuation a defined path controlled external magnetic field. Non-contact transportation micro-sized cells be achieved manipulating microrobot’s motion. In addition, biocompatible induce greatly enhance performance. The proposed contribute to developing dual light/magnetic field-powered micromachines biomedical

[Photodynamic therapy in localised prostate cancer].

Photodynamic therapy is based on the administration of an energy source in form of light of a specific wavelength, on a previously photosensitized tissue by a chemical compound, in the presence of oxygen, so that the great deal of free radicals and oxygen derivatives generated (hydroxyl compounds) produces necrosis of the treated tissue. Technique improvement during the last years has allowed i...

Post-treatment MRI aspects of photodynamic therapy for prostate cancer

OBJECTIVES Photodynamic therapy is a new focal therapy for prostate cancer. METHODS In this technique, a photosensitising agent is introduced intravenously, then activated by local laser illumination to induce tumour necrosis. Treatment efficacy is assessed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS We illustrate specific post-treatment MRI aspects at early and late follow...

Photodynamic therapy for prostate cancer: One urologist's perspective.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has slowly found its place in the treatment of human disease. Currently, photodynamic therapy is being explored as a treatment option for localized prostate cancer. PDT for the treatment of prostate cancer will require ablation of both malignant and non-malignant glandular epithelium. Ablation of both malignant and normal epithelium adds a new treatment dimension sinc...

Photodynamic therapy for anal cancer.

Invasive anal cancers are generally successfully treated by combined chemotherapy with radiation therapy (XRT). For those patients who locally fail this intervention many are salvaged by surgery which generally results in permanent colostomy. We examined the treatment and outcome of Photofrin based photodynamic therapy (PDT) in a cohort of patients with anal cancer who failed locally despite ch...

Photodynamic Therapy for Eye Cancer

Photodynamic therapy is well-established as a treatment for a number of conditions in ophthalmology, principally in the field of medical retina, but less so in ocular oncology. Cancer of the eye is rare, the commonest lesions to affect the globe being choroidal melanoma (as a primary malignancy) and choroidal metastases (a secondary malignancy). The mainstay of treatment of such lesions remains...
